A word from our Trailmaster:

This appears to be the year for bridge repairs. This bridge named in honor of Robert “Bob” Wallace is located on the south end of Trail 25 and crosses the Abagadasset River nicknamed the Abby.   We talked with the landowner, Mary Crimmins who graciously allowed us access across her field with our vehicles so that we wouldn’t have to manually carry the large volume of building materials needed for this bridge repair project.   The bridge had to be closed earlier this fall after learning that it was no longer safe to cross.  Thanks to the many volunteer hours provided by Peter Fournier and Steven Woodcock the bridge is once again open and safe to cross.

Trail work sessions have ended for this season.  Thank you to all who attended.  Although we have already had two snow events with the last one giving us several inches, the ground has not yet frozen. These snow events were enough to get some eager riders out in the fields and onto some of the trails. Therefore we want to remind everyone that our trials are not yet open. Once our season gets underway and our trials are officially opened we will provide a weekly Trails Condition Report.

A Letter from the Club President

Hello club members and guests. The winter snowmobile season is quickly approaching and I wanted to get a note out to let you know what we are doing in preparation.

After inventorying our equipment we realized we had one running snowmobile and two working drags. Thanks to some help from Tri Sports for sled repair and warehouse storage along with some volunteer welding work the club now has two (2) working snowmobiles and three (3) working drags. With several hundred dollars in donations of materials The Club was able to add three (3) roller groomers to its equipment inventory.

This year The Club is trying something new in an effort to better utilize our limited resources. We have developed grooming teams that will share the use of the two (2) snowmobiles. Our goal is to maintain and groom all 25+ miles of trials so our members and visitors will enjoy riding in and through our town. I would also like to thank the many volunteers in town that use their own snowmobiles and drags to groom section of the trail. Without their help this task would be impossible with two (2) snowmobiles. Watch our website for upcoming articles on these valuable volunteers.

The Club’s Board of Directors (entirely new) discussed our membership and the need to put a focused effort into fund raising to increase our equipment inventory and modify our trail system to accommodate the newer larger sleds. This year we will be selling new trial maps at our local stores and for the first time you will be able to purchase Richmond Snow Rover t-shirts. The Club is also selling MSA raffle tickets, which you can find at the local stores in town or through one of The Club Officers. Not only are the prizes super; but The Club gets to keep 50% of the proceeds of each ticket we sell. We would like to thank Kevin Smith at the Bobcat Redemption Center for allowing our club to have an account their for bottle donations.

On the Membership side we restructured our business memberships to include a Bronze, Silver, and Gold level of membership. This will allow us to give back some advertising and support to our loyal business members.

I would like to encourage everyone to attend a meeting this year and/or come out to one of the Trail Work Parties. It’s a great way to meet other members and make new friends. Meeting attendance is not mandatory; remember this is your club and your voice is important. The more members that attend the meetings the more fun filled events can be discussed, planned and implemented. Some of the events we are currently discussing are:

  • A Club ride in January
  • Doing something at the Richmond Home Days next year.

I am asking that you all put in as much time as you can to assist us in providing good safe trails, and a social club that all members feel comfortable and proud of.

As you can see we have had a busy summer.
